Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Line-manage and lead on recruitment, induction, and appraisal of designated finance support staff, providing effective communication, training and mentoring to enable staff to carry out duties
- Plan, develop and implement effective systems and services to manage all aspects of the budget cycle ensuring high standards of compliance in practice, effective links with payroll, staffing and other systems
- Provide financial assurance checks in line with Trust and statutory requirements
- Manage school assets and contracts via the asset management system
- Act as the main point of contact for staff in cluster schools for all matters relating to finance, responding where appropriate or referring to colleagues
- Communicate effectively with Headteachers, the central finance team, the cluster finance team and other colleagues to plan activity in relation to budget requirements
- Assist with forecasting and budget development, working with the Cluster Business Manager
- Support the delivery and administration of budget holder training
- Responsible for the efficient preparation and coordination of process and documentation in relation to year end, management accounts, journals and recharges
- Responsible for ensuring that new supplier checks are complete and maintaining accurate records
- Responsible for timely issue and authorisation of paylists
- Responsible for timely payroll reconciliation and exceptions in order for staff to be paid and conducting regular payroll assurance checks
- Oversee control accounts, ensuring entries are recorded accurately and implementing appropriate follow up actions for reporting and maintaining financial sustainability
- Support / deliver implementation of finance changes / projects.
- Provide occasional cover or support for colleagues operating in finance across the Trust
- Assist with the supervision and welfare of pupils, contributing to effective behaviour management in school
What you will offer:
Part or fully qualified or working towards a CIMA/ACCA qualification
Recent experience of transactional finance service support
Experience of using financial accounting and management information systems
Effective ICT skills within an office environment and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to relate well and work effectively with children and adults
