Finance Assistant Apprentice Aat Level 2

Beckfoot Trust is a diverse family of 10 schools (4 Primary, 2 Special, 4 Secondary) closely located in the Bradford area. Formed in 2013 we now educate over 7000 young people and employ over 1000 staff. We are looking for someone to join our busy accounting team reporting to the finance director.
**Day to Day work**
This list is not considered to be exhaustive, but to provide an illustrative representation of the nature of the duties that the Apprentice will be involved in and the experience / development that will be gained.
- Work with high standards of accuracy and compliance in line with the Trust policies and procedures following standard operating
- procedures and identifying areas for improvement
- Assisting with budget holder requests and queries including goods to be returned, ensuring queries are dealt with promptly and
- effectively

- Process orders and invoices for goods and services, using the Finance software.
- Process card payments
- Attaching documents to the finance system electronically
- Monitor budgets in relation to overspend and scheme of delegation
- Ensure all orders are delivered in the agreed timescales, deliveries match the purchase orders and any discrepancies are queried with the supplier
- Process staff and student expenses
- Administer credit card transactions
- Provide routine administrative and organisational support
- Assist in ensuring effective procurement practice and ensuring best value principles are met
- To assist with BACS payment runs
- Undertake word processing and IT based tasks e.g. Microsoft Office and Office 365
- Maintain manual/electronic filing and information systems
- Complex data inputting of manual and computerised record/information systems
- Able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain accurate records using relevant systems in line with policy and records management procedures
- Attend meetings and undertake duties as required in line with Trust calendar, sharing expertise and supporting others
- Provide occasional cover for colleagues in support functions
- Assist with the supervision and welfare of pupils, contributing to effective behaviour management in school
- Contribute to the development of systems and procedures in the department, support the life of the school and work within the overall aims and objectives of the school
- Carry out fire marshal or first aid duties if required, with appropriate training
**Essential Criteria**
- With the right attitude, commitment, and strong organisational skills.
- Computer literate with knowledge of Excel and Word.
- You will have an interest in accounts/finance with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- As you will be working in a school environment you will be expected to have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Flexible to attend meetings/training sessions outside of usual hours on occasion
You will be supported throughout your training, but you will need to be proactive, take ownership of the role and your personal development.
**Qualifications**
Minimum of 5 GCSE - Grade 4 or above including maths and English.

An Accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business. The Accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties. It takes approximately 15 months to complete the apprenticeship and you will receive a blended method of learning including online learning and attending live online workshops, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications in:
