**Job Overview**:
- The WIP Controller team lead will be responsible for a portfolio of key accounts, and oversee the management of the entire WIP process, driving the key outcomes within the process, i.e. WIP to Accrued Income to Bill or WIP to Bill conversion.
- Manage a small team of staff and distribute workload and contracts appropriately between the team, ensuring cross training and cover for leave or sickness.
- Provide support, guidance and leadership for the direct reports, monitoring progress and proving a clear framework to work to.
- Produce clear reporting of progress and be able to present and clearly communicate progress and pain points.
- Full management of team including recruitment and training where required.
- Ensure a comprehensive review across whole portfolio of all works completed by engineers to identify reactive, quoted, and project works. That appropriate backup has been identified, and contractual requirements are met.
- Being the conduit and working closely with the Operations, Finance, OTC and R2R teams (UK & Genpact) and client.

The WIP Controller team lead and direct reports are part of the Shared Services finance team, supporting the Technical Services finance and OTC processes. The role is operationally and commercially focused, supporting contract managers, operations and business development teams. The team lead will work closely with the operations team to ensure we maximise revenue from existing business and deliver our services as efficiently as possible, ensuring contract profitability is maximised and working capital management is optimised.

The team are pivotal in supporting the OTC element of the business, working closely with the operational and business development teams and being a part of the day-to-day running of the business. They will play a key role in ensuring TS Finance delivers accurate reporting of the monthly results, ensuring they reflect the current performance of the business and driving initiatives as required. They will also assist in compiling the annual operating plan, the quarterly forecasts and monthly reporting for Reactive, Quoted and Project works, as well as ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions, business cases and bid development - ensuring we understand how internal and external influences will impact the business and making the best decisions for the Mitie group as a whole.

**Main Duties**
- Ensure the following activities are delivered timely and accurately by the relevant functions/team through close supervision of the end-to-end WIP process across all contracts under the team leaders portfolio:

- Full end to end management of a portfolio of contracts, supported by a small team
- Distribution of workload across team accordingly and responding to business needs
- Build and maintain clear reports and trackers to monitor progress to management
- Run and update WIP/ SQL Maximo reports weekly with accurate committed costs
- WIP trackers maintained with status updates against jobs
- Ensuring jobs which have been completed have the relevant documents in place required for billing
- Reconciliation of costs and time on each job to ensure prompt closure of jobs in a period
- Housekeeping of all work orders, prompt closure and flagging of anomolies
- Collation of comments and analysis on high margin and loss-making jobs
- To understand and comply with policies and procedures
- Attend review meetings relating to working capital and those which are contract specific
- Managing efficient and accurate conversion of WIP to Accrued Inline with Revenue Recognition Policy
- Managing conversion of WIP and AI to bill
- Identify and implement continuous improvements on the OTC process to drive timely cash conversion
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly reports ensuring integrity, and accuracy, and providing clear visibility of the financial health of the business units.
- Being pro-active in identifying and implementing added value opportunities
- Support operations teams with cost management of client contract costs
- Undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
- Some travel between Mitie and client offices

**What we are looking for**:

- Team leadership experience or willingness to learn.
- Good demonstratable interpersonal and communication skills.
- A clear, concise and confident person, comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to plan workload and conflicting prioties and delegate to team as required.
- Tenacious, i.e. proactively following up on issues and outcomes driven, committed to driving improvements
- Advanced experience of Microsoft Excel (Pivots & VLOOKUP Essential)
- Good understanding of day-to-day operations of a Finance department / Order to Cash (OTC) process
- Deadline driven with the ability to manage own time and prioritise workload
