**The Role**:

- Resolving non-routine customer enquiries. This may involve scoping requirements with clients directly, generating data, providing technical insight and generating reports
- Improving on existing methods as new technologies and techniques come through
- The point of technical escalation for colleagues in the Lab area on techniques and procedures applied to samples
- Day to Day testing is not the focus of this role, however you are expected to maintain ongoing competency in key tests in your area and assist in the laboratory at peak workloads where appropriate
- Evaluates laboratory test methods and standard operating procedures, recommends improvements and works with the Laboratory Manager to implement
- Is knowledgeable of relevant laboratory equipment and new testing available
- Determines equipment needs and evaluates equipment and new test procedures for purchase or addition to test scope
- Will be point escalation for specialist-relevant Laboratory technical queries
- Analyse internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement
- Will train colleagues across sites when requested
- Will be asked for input on the introduction of processes improvement

**Key Requirements**:

- Strong experience working with methods/equipment or materials in your area of expertise
- A solid grasp of data analysis and report writing
- Being at the forefront of new techniques and innovation in your area of expertise
- Be able to diagnose problems quickly and provide a solution for potential issues
- Progression to a more senior post will be by promotion only, on the recommendation of the senior management team
