We are a school for 11-18 year olds with high standards and high expectations for all members of our community - students and teachers. At Sedgehill, we are committed to ensuring that teaching and learning is of the highest quality so that all students can achieve their potential. We provide an engaging and challenging curriculum designed to stretch and challenge all of our students to achieve their goals - to gain the grades required by top universities, or to win places on high quality apprentice schemes, or whatever other individual goals they may have. Students with additional needs receive specialist support from our experienced inclusion team.

We are fortunate to benefit from state-of-the-art facilities in performing arts and physical education and are committed to broadening the extracurricular experience of our students. Sports, music, drama, art, and Duke of Edinburgh clubs run regularly at lunch and after school. We are particularly proud to be part of the Andrew Lloyd Webber programme, under which all Year 7 students receive a violin and are taught how to play it.

**SEN Teaching Assistant - SCLN - Job Description -**

**Location**:London

**Salary**: Starting salary £31,072 FTE; **actual salary** **£19,574.**

**The Role**

As a Teaching Assistant for Sedgehill Academy, the post-holder will be an integral part of the SEND Team. The Specialist Teaching Assistant will work alongside the SENDCo and other key school staff in school to promote the maintenance of a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment.

Undertake activities with either individuals or groups of children to ensure their safety and facilitating their physical, emotional and educational development.

Carry out pre-planned activities to support the development of students with hearing impairment, both socially and academically, following the graduated response.

**About you**

You will help to promote students’ independence skills in communication, learning and social skills with the school setting.

It is essential that you can demonstrate your previous experience of and understanding schools’ welfare, social and safeguarding needs and schools’ policies on Equal Opportunities, Behaviour, Anti-Bullying, Child Protection and restraint, along with Health and Safety and Security.

Experience of audiological equipment (hearing aids, cochlear implants, radio-aids) is desirable.
