We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Band 5 speech and language therapist (SLT) with established dysphagia skills who has a passion to work with patients across the medical and surgical pathways.

This amazing post provides opportunities to develop further specialist skills in an area of your own personal interest and enable you to progress towards becoming a Band 6 specialist SLT

You will gain experience working across emergency medicine, respiratory medicine, enhance high care, gastroenterology, vascular and orthopaedic surgery, elderly medicine, acute frailty, admission avoidance and critical care step down pathways. This varied and exciting post will then facilitate your progression to becoming a Specialist Band 6 SLT

You will thrive working with different MDTs to deliver holistic patient care as well as partake in quality improvement projects to review and improve service delivery. The Speech and Language therapy team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large, friendly and innovative team comprised of 30 staff and is part of Integrated Nutrition and Communication Services which includes the Department of Dietetics and The Nutrition Nurse Team. You will gain exposure to videofluoroscopy and FEES and have excellent clinical supervision from senior SLTs as well as opportunities for peer supervision. We place a strong focus on evidence-based practice, CPD, appraisal and training opportunities which will support your progression and development into a Band 6 SLT role.

We excited about the possibilities this role can bring.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.

To integrate with the multidisciplinary teams and contribute to training and education and quality improvement projects as appropriate with support from clinical leads.
