Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

As strategic lead and portfolio manager for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), this post will deliver strategic assurance for the EDI performance measures through reports, meetings and the management of the EDI and Positive Action strategy.
The postholder will provide specialist advice and guidance relating to EDI to all departments and be the lead point of contact for related matters, including Positive Action.
The postholder will provide a clear strategic vision for EDI in Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service by aligning external governance priorities in the fire service sector such as HMICFRS and National FCC with internal service priorities locally, adapting to change when circumstances require it.
The postholder will manage the EDI team to create and deliver training plans and resources to support progress across all departments relative to departmental needs and overall equality objectives for the service.
The postholder will lead on the compliance workstreams relating to EDI matters, such as the Public Sector Equality Duty and Equality Impact Assessment quality assurance, working closely with HR and Organisational Development to deliver specific positive action activities within a wider inclusive attraction, recruitment, retention, and progression process for all.
The Service has a long track record of visible commitment to equality diversity and inclusion issues. While this has been well recognised, we consider EDI to be a journey, not a destination and we want to drive further progress in creating a more inclusive organisation, with a much more diverse workforce, and with all staff positively engaged via a continuously improving employee experience.
There will be a requirement for some travel for which a pool car will be provided.
The normal working week is 37 hours however you may occasionally need to work beyond normal office hours.
