An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified accountant to lead the finance team of the NOTSSCaN clinical division at Oxford University Hospitals.

To succeed in this role, you will be a self-motivated, pro-active individual with excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills, and have a proven track record of delivery.

You will provide a comprehensive business partnering service to the division, including strategic leadership, financial planning and reporting, and developing plans for elective recovery and efficiency programmes, as well as providing value through financial advice and challenge. The role will also involve managing the divisional finance team and driving improvement and development within the team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to work in an open and reflective team and deliver on elective recovery and the financial sustainability of services.

The Head of Finance will provide leadership within the Division in developing and implementing strategies and delivering outputs consistent with the Division’s strategic and business objectives. They will also lead on assessing the financial sustainability of services and the development of efficiency programmes to address this, as well as providing key leadership into the development of business cases and elective recovery plans.

The post holder will lead on all aspects of financial planning, reporting and forecasting for the division and be responsible for ensuring the clear communication of financial performance to the division and senior finance team, making clear links between activity, workforce, performance targets and finances.

The post holder will develop close and collaborative working relationships with key leads within the corporate finance team to ensure the divisional finance team’s operations are consistent with the Trust’s financial framework and to provide key information on divisional matters. They will also work proactively on the delivery of the finance team’s priorities and objectives, to improve the effectiveness and governance of the overall finance function.

The Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Trauma, Specialist Surgery, Children and Neonates Division (NOTSSCaN), is the largest of the four clinical divisions in OUH, with an annual turnover of £380m. The division operates services across all four main hospital sites, with particular responsibility for The JR West Wing, Oxford Children’s Hospital, Oxford Eye Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
