The role
As the Compliance Monitoring Associate you will be responsible for carrying out group-wide monitoring of compliance with regulatory requirements (including financial crime). You will be expected to combine your understanding of the operational and commercial complexities of the organisation with your knowledge in insurance regulation and monitoring standards to plan, agree and deliver an annual monitoring schedule. You will gain exposure to senior stakeholders within this role and be responsible for carrying out assigned monitoring reviews to provide regulatory assurance to senior management, Boards and Committees.
What you’ll be doing:
- Completing assigned monitoring reviews including aspects of planning, fieldwork and reporting
- Assisting the Compliance Monitoring Manager with preparation of the annual risk-based compliance monitoring plan for Hiscox Group
- Undertake appropriate preparatory work ahead of commencing a review, liaising with relevant business areas as required
- Produce high quality monitoring reports in a timely manner, clearly identifying issues and required actions and making pertinent, achievable recommendations
- Present report findings to divisional senior management with conviction, acting as a catalyst for business change
- Review and critically appraise evidence supplied by business to suppose action and issue closure
- Assist the Compliance Monitoring Manager in the production of monthly MI for discussion at relevant Boards and Committees
You will be dealing with lots of different people, systems, processes and information so you will have to be versatile, flexible, highly organised, personable and engaging.
Our must haves:
- Experience working in the Insurance industry with some exposure to insurance regulations
- Some knowledge of the regulatory landscape and current and emerging regulatory issues in the insurance industry
- Basic understanding of conduct risk/operational risk management and controls
- Ability to analyse complex regulations and industry guidance and suggest solutions that balance business requirements and customer outcomes
- Good attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communicator
- Excellent relationship building skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Advanced level of skill with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams
