Therapy Assistant Practitioner

Under indirect supervision of EAT Team clinician, independentlyinstall communication aid systems of low-medium complexity withpatients and deliver a standardised training package to thepatient, their carers, family and others in a range of communitysettings. Provide feedback to supervising clinician to monitoreffectiveness of use of the device. Independently review usage of EC and AAC devices and make suggestedimprovements to device in order to improve its usage. Independently deliver and monitor training programmes devisedby qualified team members including speech and languagetherapists, occupational therapists and clinical scientists.
Demonstrate good practice in the delivery of a variety of trainingprogrammes, either in a 1:1 or group situation. Prepare equipment and resources, making use of IT whereappropriate. Be responsible for safe use of equipment in their care, observingthe appropriate Health and Safety and infection control policies. Undertake a range of work procedures and practices whichrequire base level theoretical knowledge gained through relevanttraining and experience, under supervision from a qualifiedtherapist.
Develop and consolidate personal knowledge and skillsdemonstrating the evidence in a CPD portfolio. Maintain accurate and current record keeping in line with TherapyService standards and team specific requirements To be an active member of the team by attending staff meetingsand training sessions Demonstrate continuous appraisal analysis and evaluation ofpersonal clinical practice and act on indicators for changeconsidering all available options Contribute to the planning and progression of patient interventionsin liaison with a qualified therapist or other allied healthprofessional, adapting these on a day to day basis if necessary Prioritise and effectively time manage clinical and non-clinicalresponsibilities Undertake where appropriate and contribute to clinical riskassessment for self, patient / carer and other team members,ensuring that HR and safety policies are adhered to. Work with the EATS team to develop and maintain a servicestructure which delivers best practice To assist in the implementation and monitoring of clinicalstandards and outcome measures in designated areas of activity Act with other team members to resolve blocks to teamperformance Ensure service performance data is collected as agreed and whensubmitted is accurate and timely Participate in audit activity
