An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Innovation, Research & Development Team (IR&D)at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHCT) to join the team as an Innovation Facilitator.

The post holder will work closely with the Director of Innovation, supporting and facilitating the delivery of innovation programmes and projects in NHCT, and. aiming to accelerate the growth of innovative solutions across our activities.

Additionally, the post holder will strive to facilitate clinical, patient focused innovations with the support of the Clinical Director of Research and Development, and the Deputy Director of IR&D.

The post holder, operating out of the IR&D at North Tyneside General Hospital, will seek to identify, and facilitate opportunities to test innovative healthcare solutions that will bring improvements in services that includes corporate projects, clinically focused and patient driven, and specifically support:
- Owning, acting consistently with and communicating Northumbria’s approach to innovation colleagues across the trust, and researchers
- Promotion of the visibility, structure, process & capacity of the innovation aims to the business of healthcare innovation.
- Access for rapid improvement products to be tested and embedded across care-pathways at NHCT.
- Identification of key areas of challenge, including those areas where change could be achieved by novel and innovative service improvements including digital innovation.
- Synergies between clinical teams who have identified novel ideas that could enhance service delivery and businesses and partners who could provide innovative solutions
- Engagement with clinicians and managers across the Health and Social Care systems, including ICS’s, in meeting areas of need, and assist the mapping of innovation projects and ideas in the system in support of developing a comprehensive strategic plan for harnessing innovation to improve patient care.
- Development of relationships and engagement with interested stakeholders including local businesses, councils and academic partners.
- Access to funding/grants.

- Educated to postgraduate Masters Level, and/or equivalent experience in the design, development, management and delivery of programmes and projects, within a public or private service healthcare service innovation environment.
- Knowledge, or experience project management.
- Service improvement, or research experience and knowledge of relevant systems, approaches, methods, and tools.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and following standard procedures.
- Experience of using data to understand and explain system problems and evaluate outcomes.
- Experience of developing bids for innovative funding.
- Demonstrable relevant CPD
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills with experience of influencing decision making.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including complex and highly technical information.
- Flexible approach to working and a desire to develop knowledge.
- Knowledge of innovation, design, and project management.
- Understanding of intellectual property guidelines and principles.
- Financial management planning for short and long term projects
