**About the role**:
As the cruise industry continues to grow as we move back to “normality” from Covid, we are recruiting for a Director of Buying.Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the role holds a very significant profile within this exciting and fast paced organisation.You will lead and develop your function through process implementation, whilst striving to improve through change.Managing a large team, you will champion Buying with the Operations team, ensuring category performance is achieved to deliver revenue / margintargets as well as customer satisfaction.Your role will be critical in promoting and advocating the significant opportunity there is within the cruise industry for the vendor community.Similarly, you will lead the Buying team in guiding our numerous cruiseline partners to the right assortments.

**Accountabilities**
- Develop overall category strategies that reflect changing shopper preferences and deliver our financial targets
- Deliver an assortment for each cruise line aligned with our strategy, rooted in shopper insight and back by sound commercial arrangements with our vendor partners
- Develop a robust category review process and embed it in the team as business as usual
- Coach and develop the team, with a mix of informal feedback, more formal training and more specific support where required
- Work closely with the Merchandising team to deliver on stock management KPI’s
- Work closely with the Finance team to deliver financial KPI’s
- Excite the vendor partners about the cruise channel opportunity for their brands, not only in commercial terms but also as a mean for effective brand-building
- Build a pipeline of new category opportunities

**About you**:

- Proven experience in a senior retail buying role
- Commercially astute with a track record of leading and developing teams, financially disciplined and highly numerate
- Significant multi-category experience within a fast-paced retailer, ideally with a blend of branded and own-branded products
- A rational decision maker under pressure
- Must have an existing right of eligibility to work in the UK
