**Youth Worker**

**Smooth Starts Plus** is an independent organisation supporting children and young people to engage in activities they enjoy across Cardiff and the Vale.

The children you will be supporting typically have had a difficult start to life, and many have experienced adverse childhood experiences, some may also be excluded from other settings including school. As a result, play, relationship forming and general activity structures can be challenging for them.

As a confident youth worker you will help the children to engage in opportunities which help to build their confidence and positive sense of self. This will be in the community, shaped by activities they enjoy.

**Responsibilities**:

- Direct support, engagement and supervision of the child within the community, including transportation
- Completion of session notes to record the detail of engagement
- Attendance to training, team meetings and supervisions
- Adherence to organisation policies

**Experience/Qualities**:

- An ability to relate to and engage with children and young people who struggle to form relationships and engage in activities
- An ability to work in a variety of environments including indoor or outdoor settings.
- An ability to be flexible and creative, dependent on the child's needs
- An ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as part of a team
- Punctual, reliable and motivated

**Requirements**:

- Car driver with access to a car for transportation

Smooth Starts Plus is a therapeutic service, developed and managed by an experienced occupational therapy team. Training and development opportunities are supported and provided by the organisation.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 13 per week

**Salary**: From £11.00 per hour
