**Overview**:
Buckinghamshire Council have an exciting opportunity for an Early Help Liaison Officer.

The successful applicant will be involved in the first steps of getting children and families the help they need. It is this the post holder’s task to ascertain the presenting needs and respond with the most suitable support offer which will make a difference to the lives of those families.

**About the role**:
You will work closely_ _with colleagues_ _to make effective, well-informed and prompt decisions and ensure requests for support are quality assured and ready for allocation to early help teams. You will take an active role in discussions on threshold decisions, based on knowledge and understanding of_ _the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership continuum of need (thresholds) and the full extent of the Buckinghamshire Early Help partnership offer._ _You will make recommendations about the appropriate package of support for families and will be confident in liaising with partner organisations where appropriate.

We are recruiting for two new posts.

1 x Early Help Liaison officer with a specific focus on working alongside the First Response team as part of the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Partnership (MASH). This role will triage requests at the very first point of entering Children’s Services and will provide a vital link between the FSS and MASH teams. This role is new, and so there will be opportunity for the post holder to shape and develop the role as needed. The post holder will be mainly based at the MASH office in Aylesbury Police station. The role is full time and fixed term for 18 months.

1 x Early Help Liaison officer who will develop good links with Early Help partners and be able to utilise a wide range of options when responding to requests for support. The post holder will be based at County Hall in Aylesbury with home working optional for part of the week. The role is full time and permanent.

**About the Business Unit**:
The Family Support Service (FSS) has a key role to play in ensuring children and families receive the support_ _they need in a timely and effective way. As part of that ambition,_ _the FSS needs to have a consistent and knowledgeable presence in First Response (the front door for Children’s Services) to promote early intervention where appropriate, inform decision-making and provide insight into how early help can best support vulnerable families.
