We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Head of Midwifery & Neonates to lead our teams by guiding and supporting the delivery of outstanding care within our Maternity and Neonatal services, as part of the Maternity & Perinatal Leadership Team. At Sandwell & West Birmingham Trust, we strive to be at the forefront of innovative maternity and neonatal care. We are a friendly team and serve a demographically varied population.
- We deliver around 5500 births per annum and provide antenatal and postnatal care to 10,0000 women.
- The Neonatal Unit contains 29 cots and provides up to Level 2 care.
- Our maternity services have been recently classed as 'Good' following an unannounced CQC inspection.
- We are proud of our approach to multidisciplinary working between our midwives, nurses and medical staff. We are committed to creating the best place to work, where all staff can reach their full potential.
- The post holder is a key member of the senior leadership team within the clinical group and works under the professional direction of the Director of Midwifery to provide guidance, support and leadership to all midwifery and nursing staff to ensure patient safety, service quality and excellent patient experience is consistently maintained.
- Provides both the professional, strategic, and operational leadership across the maternity service to ensure optimum standards of care and service are delivered through effective management of human, financial and physical resources.
- Exhibits leadership behaviours that demonstrate respect, resilience, trust, enthusiasm, and energy, positively impacting on the culture of the workforce.
- Focus is on the provision of responsive, compassionate, visible leadership for wards and departments within maternity and a range of services which are both hospital and community

based.
- Acts as a strong patient advocate ensuring that a culture of continuous improvement and learning is supported to drive quality care delivery across the division and facilitate the development of clinical practice, to ensure excellent care.
