**Purpose of the job**

In May 2023 the Liberal Democrats retained majority control of Hull City Council with an increased majority, and significantly increased in size on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, where they are now the second largest group in a minority Conservative-run Council. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working and dedicated individual to help these two neighbouring local parties continue to grow in campaigning capacity and increase activity ahead of major elections in 2024, which include defending control of Hull City Council and the Police & Crime Commissioner for Humberside in May 2024 and an expected General Election.

With different emphasis in each local party, the successful applicant will:

- Take responsibility for delivering the agreed campaign plan(s);
- Design campaign literature, manage print/production and coordinate delivery;
- Build campaigning capacity - recruiting members, donors, deliverers etc;
- Build and manage a team of volunteers who lead capacity building and campaigning;
- Deliver an ongoing programme of doorstep communication with voters, including leading regular doorstep sessions personally;
- Maintain relevant databases e.g. deliverers, donors, poster sites etc;
- Organise events e.g. action days, social events, etc;
- Attend relevant conferences, training and other meetings as required for your own personal development.

**Person Specification**:
The following criteria are considered essential:

- Exceptional personal organisation.
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers.
- Excellent written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, self-motivation and able manage own workload.
- Familiarity with current issues within UK politics and sympathy with the values and principles of the Liberal Democrats.
- Experience of using Affinity Publisher and Connect.

The following criteria are considered highly desirable:

- Experience of delivering effective Liberal Democrat campaigns.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

**Starting date: ASAP.**
