Directly reporting into the Business Support Manager, the Sustainable Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing the Canon Cambridge sites environmental sustainability practices and the FSC site certification processes.

The Sustainable Compliance Specialist will be the main point of contact for our customer’s colleagues responsible for sustainability or involved in sustainable projects / initiatives and any colleagues who are supporting as and when required.

He/she will be able to demonstrate excellent relationship management skills to deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction in what is a demanding, dynamic and highly secure environment.

Very strong organisational skills will be a pre-requisite as will the ability to manage the development process, delivery, governance and reporting of a long term, robust and credible sustainability strategy for the sites whilst managing resources to help reduce the impact it may have on the environment.

Exceptional inter-personnel skills are required to establish and maintain stakeholder trust, acting as a catalyst for sustainable change, driving, influencing and supporting senior colleagues to instill confidence and enthusiasm in the solution being delivered by Canon Cambridge. The ability to understand and work effectively and positively to requirements for FSC certification programmes is essential as well as identifying opportunities for change and improvement in addition to identifying any risks that could affect Canon’s FSC site accreditation.

This role involves data capture and data gathering where accuracy of the information is essential. The Sustainable Compliance Specialist must be highly computer literate and have an outstanding level of Microsoft Office skills.

Purpose of the role:

- To manage internal engagement on sustainability and collaborate with our customer in progressing against their own sustainability goals
- To lead social & educational programme activity
- To oversee the implementation of circular economy initiatives
- To develop and deliver effective local compliance programmes and activity relating to product safety, environment & waste, and chemicals
- To continually develop and maintain processes for Canon’s FSC site certification

Reporting:

- The Sustainable Compliance Specialist will report to the Business Support Manager
- The Sustainable Compliance Specialist will have no direct reports

**Activities / Tasks**

Business Planning:

- Establish and maintain a robust plan and governance for sustainability; inclusive of establishing common KPIs with clients and suppliers, monitoring delivery against those measures, and tracking improvement actions.
- Work closely with site departments, to oversee and monitor the implementation of local compliance delivery in relation to product safety, environment & waste and chemicals
- To demonstrate Supply Chain Compliance & Environmental Impact Reduction
- Work closely with Canon Supply Chain, to ensure ongoing operational compliance by monitoring of suppliers’ adherence to Canon’s Green Procurement standard
- Manage all relevant legal compliance and reporting requirements inclusive of collaboration with client in Greenhouse G
