Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Strategy & Consumer Insight, the Head of Intelligence & Insight is responsible for leading the delivery of actionable insight and intelligence across Channel 4, playing a key role in delivering Channel 4’s strategic objective to put the viewer at the heart of our decision-making.
- Cross-team collaboration and partnership will be critical to the success of this new role. The role will be responsible for building and leading a team of experts dedicated to providing all Channel 4 departments with the information and insight required in order to inform business decisions. This role will work collaboratively with a range of teams across Strategy & Consumer Insight, and the wider organisation, in order to deliver on insight needs.
- This role is of significant strategic importance to Channel 4 as it accelerates its shift to a digital-first model, and so this role will involve regular interaction at Executive and Board level. The Head of Intelligence & Insight will have the authority and experience to represent Channel 4 externally with industry partners and clients, and on public platforms.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop approach to delivering audience analysis, consumer intelligence and actionable insight across the business (across all Channel 4 departments, and at corporate / CEO / COO level).
- Work collaboratively with other teams within Strategy & Consumer Insight (including Research & Measurement, Data Science, Strategy and Policy & Public Affairs) to enable a joined-up and evidence-based approach to decision-making across Channel 4.
- Lead on integration and dissemination of insight to decision-makers across the business, and across all levels of the organisation.
- Deliver insight that inspires, is actionable and drives results.
- Look for gaps in our insight, data, and research programme - and constantly challenge ourselves as a business to prioritise and fill those gaps.
- Provide thought leadership on the changes in TV consumption patterns, new technological developments, changes in video measurement, and the potential impact on Channel 4 and the wider market.
- Oversee corporate reporting of all audience-related information ensuring that trends in audience performance and behaviour are explained and understood. This will include monthly Board reports, CEO and Executive briefing material, and other material for Ofcom, external stakeholders and press.
- Build and lead Insight team focused on Commissioning, Marketing and Sales.
- Work collaboratively with Head of Product Insight and Effectiveness, Head of Data Science and other teams to enable Product insight.
- Partner with Head of Research & Measurement and Head of Data Science to commission research and data products to enable delivery of strategic insight.
- Leadership for Intelligence & Insight team including developing and implementing strategic direction and priorities, as well as lead contact for agency support.

**JOB FACTORS**
- Experience of leading Insight and Intelligence activity within a media company or comparable organisation - taking a strategic approach to analysing data and market information, in order to drive actionable insight.
- Proven track record in people management including ability to build and lead a team with varied portfolios and responsibilities.
- Significant organisation and project management skills and the ability to manage resources and deliver through others.
- Acts with autonomy, only referring upwards for guidance or to gain agreement on a recommendation.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities, manage timescales and delivery across the team.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders - with the ability to handle conflicting viewpoints, and strong influencing and persuasion skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including advanced presentation skills to showcase Channel 4’s work internally and externally.
- The ability to deliver under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of the broadcasting and communications sector a strong advantage.
