**Job Description**:
The position of Head of Maritime Data is a high-profile role that forms part of the Data Leadership team at Lloyd’s List Intelligence, the global leaders in geo-spatial vessel tracking, analytics and machine learning. Providing best-in-class leadership and guidance to a group of twenty, including managers, this role is responsible for maintaining high quality vessel tracking information while driving continual enhancements to large dataset delivery as part of our well established and rapidly expanding customer footprint.

Lloyd’s List Intelligence has a highly ambitious data and product roadmap for the next three years, delivering high velocity, high growth products to an increasingly sophisticated customer group in the ever-changing compliance environment. This role will lead by example in-house and outsourced teams that procure, research and clean input data sets while validating outputs from machine learning models. It requires simultaneous understanding of the strategic and commercial drivers within this Maritime intelligence space, while ensuring enough attention to detail to execute high quality outputs. To ensure that data roadmap is being delivered to strategic objectives, the incumbent will need to liaise closely with counterparts in Product, Technology, Sales and Marketing, while being expected to present and gain project sign-off from the Senior Leadership Team.

This position presents an exciting opportunity for a results-driven, personable individual with experience of very large data sets, looking to expand on existing management experience (move from a manager to a leader of managers), input into commercial decision-making and gain a deeper understanding of customer-led product development. Maritime knowledge and vessel tracking experience would be a distinct advantage but much more important is a passion for large scale data management, thriving on continual change and a desire to motivate a team to exceed expectations.

This role is a senior level position that sits on the Lloyd’s List Intelligence Extended Leadership Team and therefore plays a significant part in shaping the business’ strategic direction and execution.

**Qualifications**:
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Lead three global teams to deliver high performance, motivate and lead career development opportunities
- Work within the Data and Product Leadership team to ensure that there is maximum transparency on all projects
- Monitor data quality and present Senior Management with opportunities to expand and improve data that deliver customers increasingly timely and comprehensive data
- Ensure in-house and outsourced teams are delivering value through measurable KPIs and assessing opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
- Keep abreast of existing and new competitor advances in the maritime data market and contribute to actions that Lloyd’s List Intelligence can use to articulate and develop its differentiators
- Ensure all key supplier relationships managed by the team are governed by up-to-date agreements that are approved with the Informa Intelligence legal team
- Monitor inbound analyst queries from customers, ensuring they are handled in an efficient and timely manner and escalate challenges or concerns to senior management
- Support timely delivery of existing projects, such as the ongoing analytics / ML projects, while maintaining SLAs on all tasks and deliverables
- Create and present business plans for all relevant projects on the roadmap, and work with Programme Management team to manage all improvements through to completion
- Support the creation of documentation for sales proposals and tender processes
- Ensure teams understand the strategy and policies of the wider business

**REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERESTED APPLICANTS**
- Excellent people management skills, with experience of leading large teams
- Experience of managing multi-location teams would be advantageous
- Proven software skills in packages that are synonymous with Big Data management, e.g. SQL, Python
- Other software / program knowledge in data visualisation would be advantageous
- Innovative and dynamic approach to problem-solving
- Proven success in implementing data, research and content improvements
