Maritime Data Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Maritime Data Specialist to join our team at Windward, a leading maritime AI company. The successful candidate will provide editorial supervision over our datasets, ensuring accuracy, resilience, consistency, and timeliness.
Responsibilities include:
- Verifying the accuracy and consistency of ship ownership and shipping company data
- Tracking changes in ownership, addresses, and registrations, including updates resulting from new sanctions
- Maintaining high-quality data across our datasets and implementing processes for data quality improvement where needed
- Supporting the customer support team with complex ownership queries and investigations
- Providing training and guidelines to remote editorial team members on data collection processes and investigations
- Collaborating with internal teams (R&D, Product, Support) to provide maritime data expertise
- Identifying new data sources to meet product needs and managing vendor relationships
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Data Analysis, or related field
- 5-10 years of experience in maritime data management
- In-depth knowledge of global shipping industry, including ownership structures and maritime regulations
- Ability to work with external data sources and streamline data from various inputs
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data management tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Excel) and quality assurance processes
- Experience in data selling and/or data acquisition processes
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment handling sensitive data requiring immediate attention
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
