To support the Contraception and Sexual Health & Community Gynaecology team in delivering a comprehensive service to the local population. The successful post holder will work under the direction of the lead nurse providing chaperoning within the both the CASH clinic Community Gynaecology clinics. The post holder will assist the medical team with screening and will be trained to undertake microscopy. The post holder will deal with the public and demonstrate good customer relations on behalf of the Trust. The post holder will be required to work at main base and at various community sites.

The 22.5 hrs per week post holder will be required to work on Tuesday and a Thursday.

The post holder will work closely alongside the multi-disciplinary team ensuring high quality care delivery as well as maintaining a safe, clean and well stocked environment.

Key Task and Responsibilities

A major component of this post is within the clinical setting, assisting with the patient’s journey through the clinic, working both independently and as a team member.

Post holder has a responsibility to support, promote or develop a culture, which promotes equality & diversity.

Prepare, maintain, and clear clinical areas as required ensuring these are always kept clean and tidy.

Be responsible for the day-to-day management of surgical instruments/supplies equipment.

Restock and monitor supplies and equipment daily, ensuring these are rotated regularly and do not expire. They will inform the senior HCA when stock is low for re-order.

Maintain clinical equipment and environment in good state of repair, reporting faults/defects immediately to the appropriate senior member of the team.

Contribute to the monitoring of clinical and environmental standards including unit cleanliness, infection control and COSHH Guidelines

Ensure clinical waste is ready for collection and maintain waste supplies within the clinic as per department standard operating policy.

Provide the clinical team with clerical and administrative assistance as required by the nurse in charge.

Correctly use any aids and equipment that are available within the department to assist in the care of the patients.

Order CASH service leaflets and keep a reasonable supply for Market Street Clinic and maintain levels and diversity of leaflets in wall racks within clinic setting. Order and distribute centrally held stock to outlying clinics.

Inform, in a timely way, the Line Manager of significant changes or complaints. Record incidents/near misses according to Trust and service policies and procedures.

Photocopy and distribute documents and information to doctors, nurses and clerical staff as necessary.

Attend induction course and complete orientation programme in order to achieve core competencies.

Assume personal responsibility for attending statutory/mandatory training in accordance with Trust policy.
