About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Specimen Collector to join our team at Centers Health Care. As a Clinical Specimen Collector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and efficient collection of blood samples from patients.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify Patients: Accurately identify patients using wristbands, documents, or visual identification.
  2. Prepare Supplies: Receive assignments, assemble supplies, and equipment required for specimen collection.
  3. Prioritize Samples: Determine priorities such as Stat, timed, or routine.
  4. Choose Venipuncture Method: Select the right venipuncture method based on patient age and health.
  5. Relax Patients: Reassure patients and help them relax during the blood draw process.
  6. Draw Blood: Find suitable veins and draw blood using proper equipment and techniques.
  7. Dispose of Sharps: Keep sharps, needles, and equipment out of reach of patients and properly dispose of medical waste.
  8. Label Test Tubes: Label test tubes correctly and send or deliver them for testing.
  9. Monitor Patient: Monitor patients for reactions and equipment operations.
  10. Provide Aftercare: Educate patients on immediate aftercare.
  11. Maintain Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitary space.
  12. Follow Procedures: Follow all relevant health and safety standards while working.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Certificate: Phlebotomy Technician certificate is preferred.
  • Experience: 5 years proven experience as a phlebotomist is required.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills and communication are essential.
  • Safety Regulations: Strict adherence to safety regulations is necessary.
  • Aseptic Techniques: Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques is required.
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid State-issued driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Insurance: Adequate automobile insurance is necessary.

Salary Information:

The estimated salary range for this position is between $45,000 and $60,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
