**Job description**:
People living at Ilford Park have a mixed and diverse range of abilities and our ethos is to support a person-centred approach and provide a positive lived experience.

IPPH is run by Defence Business Services, which is part of the Ministry of Defence. These civil service posts involve weekend and Bank Holiday working where rota’d, however additional payments are made for this. Care Officers are required to “sleep-in” and be on-call on a rota’s basis and a sleep-in allowance is paid. The successful applicant will line manage care staff and be responsible for the care planning and assessment for a specified number of residents. Care Officers are responsible for the administration of medication and have to respond to any health emergencies.

You will ensure the daily lived experience of people living with dementia is as positive as it can be by ensuring that the emotional needs of the people who live at Ilford Park are met and that they are involved in meaningful occupation.

**Responsibilities**
- To be person centred in all interactions with people living at IPPH and gain consent for care, treatment and support to promote the well-being and lived experience of those people.
- To be an effective leader by dealing with staff in an open and honest manner, demonstrating commitment by confidently motivating the team to achieve the best outcome for people living at IPPH.
- To be proactive in developing personalised and responsive care plans and communicate openly and effectively with relatives/advocates where consent has been given to involve them in this process. To support staff in the care planning process so that people who live at IPPH are assisted with their activities of daily living and act with integrity and always treat all people with dignity and respect
- To manage performance confidently and give regular, honest and fair feedback in a structured meeting with staff on a face to face basis at least 6 times per year to staff to appraise them on their progress against objectives
- To assist the Home Manager in the recruitment and retention of Care Staff by ensuring effective Induction and ongoing development of staff.
- To maintain staffing levels in sufficient numbers and skills by managing effective and cost effective rosters in line with the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
- To be responsible for ensuring all residents medical requirements and health needs are met including the arrangements for GP surgeries, dental, optical and chiropody treatment.
- To administer, order and store medication for residents, in line with best practice guidelines in accordance with the control of medications as stated in the Fundamental standards.
- To lead and motivate a team to provide a social environment where meaningful occupation is paramount and that people living at IPPH experience a
