Compliance Business Support Associate

ROLE PURPOSE:
The jobholder will work within the Compliance Function’s Business Support Team. The Compliance Business Support Team will act as the Compliance Function’s interface with business units of the Operating Entity. The team will also be responsible for the on-going development and maintenance of the Operating entity’s second line of defence systems, controls, policies and procedures in relation to Financial Crime, Sanctions and Data Protection, taking into account any changes in regulatory requirements or the Operating Entity’s business model or processes.

The jobholder will report directly into a Compliance Business Support Compliance Manager. However, the job holder will contribute and provide support to each of the Compliance Managers within the Compliance Business Support Team in order for the team to meet its objectives and deliver its plan, in particular, ensuring an effective and efficient delivery of compliance support to the business. The job holder shall also be assigned responsibilities for the delivery of specific and discreet projects and activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Inputs into Plans/Strategy
- Works closely with the Compliance Business Support Managers to determine own work priorities and activities in line with agreed objectives to ensure the achievement of the Annual Compliance Plan.
- Works closely with the other Compliance Function Teams, to ensure the co-ordination of deliverables.
- Participates in specific initiatives/projects to conduct research, review and consider more effective controls, particularly in relation to Financial Crime, Sanctions and Data Protection.
- Ensures the timely completion of allocated tasks, activities and projects. Provides support in the development of relevant management information to the Business Support Compliance Managers, the wider Compliance Function and to Senior Management.
- Interacts regularly with the first and second line (Compliance) monitoring functions to determine whether or not Compliance Business Support related metrics are suitably designed and incorporated.

Technical
- Review and approval of financial crime and sanctions matters escalated to second line of defence for review and approval
- Review and approval of payments that pose a higher financial crime risk
- Initial Appointed Representative and Introducer regulatory risk assessments and consideration of additional resources and controls required
- Initial review and regulatory risk assessment of new third party service provider arrangements.
- Review and approval of final responses to complaints (as well as assessment of root causes)
- Review and support in relation to escalated breaches
- Review and approval of financial promotions and marketing material
- Provides on-going advice with regard to data protection related requirements relating to client communications and marketing
- Review and support for any entity set up queries raised via the Security team
- Provides support to the business in implementing the principle of “data protection by design” and to review “Data Protection Impact Assessments”
- Shall contribute and provider support in relation to ensuring that the Operating Entities maintain adequate financial crime, sanctions and data protection related systems and controls, including in relation to fraud, anti-money laundering, data protection, market abuse, criminal finances act, bribery and corruption.
- Contributes towards the development and implementation of second line of defence monitoring metrics which support the early identification of any emerging trends which may signal potential issues associated with financial crime, sanctions and data protection.
- Contributes and supports the Business Support Team’s ability to develop and maintain a process to measure and monitor the financial crime, data protection and sanctions risk profile of each Business Unit and Division (including their Appointed Representatives), to ensure the appropriate assignment of support and resources.
- Provides support to the business units in providing technical input and expertise, interpreting compliance regulations/requirements and relating this to business activities, in relation to Financial Crime, Data Protection and Sanctions.
