NY Highways provides highways services across North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. From road maintenance, street lighting and snow clearance to road signs and pavement repairs, we operate in close partnership with North Yorkshire Council combining a commercial focus with public sector values.

We help to keep North Yorkshire moving and we are now looking for a Workshop Controller to join us and play an important role in this; helping plan and schedule vehicle repair and fleet activities of the 240 vehicles and equipment that we maintain as well as the 96 North Yorkshire County Council IPT buses and community mini buses.

Working from our Skipton depot you will be in charge of the dailysupervision of a team of Fitters and Chargehands, allocating work and ensuring it is completed in a timely manner and to required DVSA compliance regulations. Your extensive experience in vehicle maintenance and repair means you will already understand workshop systems and process, as well as health and safety requirements for the workshop environment. To be successful in this you will ensure there is a smooth line of communication between the operational and support teams to ensure vehicle availability, safety and customer service is delivered.

It is our aim to become an industry leader within the Highways sector, to be known for being modern and innovative in our approach to delivering Highways services. As Workshop Controller you will lead and motivate the team who work in the busy Skipton depot, promoting best practice and encouraging continuous improvement to your workforce and maintain effective relationships with everyone you work with: from customer and partners to suppliers and colleagues at NY Highways.

For this role it is essential that you have:

- City and Guilds Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or BTEC National Certificate in Vehicle Repair and Technology or NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Mechanical & Electrical
- Class C HGV driving licence
- Knowledge of DVSA road transport regulations and compliance requirements, and implications of non-compliance
