About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mobile Mechanical Plant Technician to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a key member of our engineering function, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure assets are returned to production in a timely manner.
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment.
  • Own small-scale projects and deliver them in a pragmatic and proactive manner.
  • Take a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and coordinate with contractors and suppliers when they are on site.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience.
  • Work with risk assessments and method statements and contribute to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures.
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures.
  • Challenging unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company procedures.
Requirements
  • Recognised apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard).
  • ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred - conveyors, drive systems, motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, vibratory screens.
  • Experience of welding and fabricating to a good standard and able to remove and fit bearings.
  • Fault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action.
  • Capability to undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment.
  • Good IT skills - capable of using PCs, common applications and company systems.
  • Competence in the use of application-based inspection schemes.
  • Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly.
  • Knowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices.
  • Flexibility to attend Plant specific training courses and Workshop as well as positive approach to travel across the region.
  • Suitable candidates for the role will possess CPC or be willing to train.
