Overview:
Element Digital Engineering are currently looking for a
**Lead Project Consultant**:

- Structural Analysis**

for either its Bristol, Derby or Cambridge locations. We are a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries - from Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment to Chemical Process - in the UK and overseas.

Our technical work covers everything from using experience judgement and simple hand calculations to detailed simulation and numerical modelling; always mindful of the need to use the appropriate level of analysis fidelity to produce practical solutions for our clients.o

As a part of our team, you will play a central role in providing our clients with; design support and verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments. We are looking for engineers with the experience of carrying out engineering analysis ideally in a consultancy environment, and a desire to develop other engineers joining Element.

**Responsibilities**:
We are looking for someone who:

- Can deliver engineering projects independently with awareness of quality, budget, and timescale
- Has the desire and ability to lead the development and growth of our structural activity
- Relishes working as part of a technically innovative and multi-disciplined technical team
- Enjoys customer interaction and taking responsibility
- Wants the opportunity to contribute to the wider development of the company

Skills / Qualifications:
This role will require you to:

- Assess complex engineering problems involving structural design, stress analysis and fracture mechanics and adopt or develop suitable approaches to solve them
- Lead and develop stress and structural integrity activities within our specialist team of engineers
- Interact with customers to identify and develop work scopes to solve their engineering challenges
- Support the activities required to find, win, and deliver engineering projects

To be considered for this role you need to have:

- A degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant engineering or mathematical discipline
- A good understanding of engineering material behaviour, thermo-mechanical fatigue, fracture and crack propagation, and the modelling of contact behaviour
- A track record working in industry on defining and delivering projects involving structural design, stress analysis, structural durability and fracture mechanics
- Experience of commercial finite element analysis software, preferably ABAQUS and/or ANSYS and able to develop new methods and extend their capability using user defined functions
- Familiarity with relevant structural integrity assessment and design codes
