**Job summary**:
We are looking for a Qualified Nursing Associate who wants to come and work in the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

This is a purpose built unit where we care for patients with both malignant and none malignant blood disorders. We treat teenagers on our Young Persons Unit right through to older adults.

The unit is made up of day case chairs and trolleys, as well as a busy outpatient clinic. You will be expected to work shifts from Monday
- Friday between the hours of 8am-7pm.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
We care for patients throughout their treatment pathway, undergoing diagnostic, curative and palliative procedures including the management of symptoms related to their treatments or their disease process.

We administer Systemic Anti
- Cancer Therapies and supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families through their treatment journey. Your role will be varied and you will be able to gain clinical skills such as cannulation, venepuncture, central line care, venesection collection, IV and blood transfusion administration.

Educated to a minimum of Level 5

Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice. If completed the Nursing Associate apprenticeship must have completed and passed the End Point Assessment

NMC Registered Nursing Associate

**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary and cross agency work environment under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Experience of providing and receiving complex sensitive information

Experience of managing / prioritising own case load / workload, using initiative

Competent in a range of clinical skills and practices relevant to the scope of practice required

Experience in delegating duties to others

Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate

Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development

Understanding and acts within NMC professional standards of practice contained within the NMC code of conduct

Understanding of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity

Awareness of health and safety issues

Has knowledge in relation to the parameters and scope of practice in which the post holder should work and when to seek advice and support/ escalate of others for expert help and advice

Willingness to take on new skills and develop scope of practice

Can articulate and understanding of the importance of following Policy / Procedure, guidelines and care and treatment plans
