We have an exciting opportunity to join Smartly.io as a HR Operations and Payroll lead in our Global People team reporting into our VP of People. In this role, you will lead a small team of experts that deliver HR Ops and payroll services to our employees globally.

There are also a number of live strategic projects where you will have the opportunity to drive real impact. An example of this is migrating to a global Payroll provider.

**As a HR Operations and Payroll Lead you will...**:

- Partner with internal customers (e.g. people leader) and stakeholders (Finance) to execute the organisation's Human Resource Operations and Payroll considering current and future organisational needs.
- Be in charge of the Operational and Payroll related processes, e.g. vacation and time tracking, occupational health, travel and global mobility, HR Intranet
- Audit the entire payroll process, setting guidelines for all procedures around payroll management
- Be responsible and supervise the coordination of payroll processing operations by monitoring workflows, team assignments and processing deadlines
- Identify areas for improvement and change in Operational and payroll processes to support business needs
- Lead, coach and develop the outstanding HR Payroll and Operations Team (4 direct reports)

**We're definitely looking for you, if you have...**:

- Practical HR Operations experience where you have been exposed to different cultures and various legislations and agreements e.g. salaries, benefits, contract management.
- Knowledge on payroll related compliance, tax and income register requirements and processes as well as a genuine interest towards payroll related technologies
- Experience in managing teams successfully and helping others grow
- Transformation experience across systems and processes, in particular migrating to a Global Payroll Provider
- Strong Skills in MS Office (Excel) and/or Google Sheets
- Sound understanding of employment laws in Europe and United States
- Outcome focussed approach and an eye for continuously automating and improving the processes
- Ability to handle highly confidential information with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with proficiency in English (our business language of choice)

**We are also really excited, if you have...**:

- Knowledge of Workday, payroll related databases and time tracking systems
- Knowledge or prior experience of Accounting related databases - at a level where you can understand key items from the payroll point of view
