The Purpose of this Role

The process industries are on a journey towards Net Zero, and circular economy is essential in the production of sustainable chemicals. The North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) and Teesside University have been awarded a grant by Innovate UK to investigate the production of sustainable olefins, which are essential building blocks within the chemical industry. Sustainable olefins refer to chemicals used in manufacture and processing, but whose source is not derived from petrochemicals. Engagement with a range of stakeholders will be required to assess feedstock, process and economic viability of new opportunities, resulting in the production of a detailed strategic roadmap, to determine routes to olefin production within Teesside.

NEPIC or the North East of England Process Industry Cluster is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the needs and interests of the process sector in the North East of England. We help drive forward the process industry by helping create innovation and by building a diverse cluster that will create jobs and bring inward investment. NEPIC covers a range of different industry sectors including pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, energy and bioprocessing.
