Trainee Counselling Psychologist

Aylesbury, United Kingdom Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking for a Trainee Counselling Psychologist to join the Community Adult Eating Disorder team in Buckinghamshire. This is an exciting time for our team due to the planned development of a new service model for services within Buckinghamshire.

The community team is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Nursing staff, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and Team Administrators.

Due to the service development and NHS England investment, we are also recruiting other professional groups. We are moving towards the development of a life span service and have good links with colleagues in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services and also the Adult Community Eating Disorders service in Oxfordshire.

The post is based in the Sue Nicholls Centre and the Whiteleaf Centre (Aylesbury) within a specialist adult eating disorders service with a reputation for excellence. Our service provides a stepped-care model tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with co-morbid mental health problems and their carers.

We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community and inpatient services. There are opportunities for further training in the evidence-based treatments, including regular supervision and the service is developing the FREED initiative.

The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development, service evaluation and research, teaching and training. We have good supervision and operational structures and an excellent track record of CPD. The service is also committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service evaluation and Quality Improvement projects.

There will be opportunities to develop skills by working with other colleagues as appropriate. Over time, the post holder will be required to offer supervision to other trainee and assistant psychologists and offer advice, consultation, teaching and supervision to the multi-disciplinary team (as appropriate).

Support to develop these skills will be offered and the local training course offers support to supervisors through a programme of CPD. Whilst of course prior experience is helpful, we would be keen to consider applicants with generalisable skills and experience.

We are a responsive and innovative Foundation Trust that places our values of Caring, Safe and Excellent at the heart of everything we do. We take great pride in our staff and believe that investing in you is key to us achieving our vision of outstanding care delivered by outstanding people. We work with a wide range of partner organisations to deliver care and support to people in their own homes and from a number of hospitals and community bases. We focus on delivering care as close to home as possible.

Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:

- Excellent opportunities for career progression
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
- NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
- Staff accommodation
- Competitive pension scheme
- Lease car scheme
- Cycle to work scheme

The post holder will be ambitious and have a positive attitude and outstanding clinical skills. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills which will enable them to thrive within a multi-disciplinary team context and in working with this complex patient group and their families. If you have particular interests you wish to develop, then please discuss with us.

Please see the attached job description for the full responsibilities and requirements for this post.
