The Best Connection are recruiting a procurement assistant on behalf of a leading supplier to the care industry, based in Grimethorpe, Barnsley.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm, however must be flexible to work occasional weekends, should the business require.

Duties of the procurement assistant:

- Sourcing of new product ranges (NPR’s) through both existing and prospective suppliers.
- Cost Price negotiations with suppliers along with sample quality checks.
- Identify areas in the product portfolio which need further development, change or rationalisation.
- Pro-actively benchmarking prices with suppliers & competitors to remain competitive.
- Help achieve cost savings where possible without impeding continuity of supply.
- Help analyse price changes from suppliers and cost impact analysis
- Build, develop & maintain supplier relationships
- Review supplier spend analysis (monthly)
- Appraisal of new supplier approaches to determine if they are of interest.
- Help with code supersession and discontinued lines.
- Review key supplier performance and address where appropriate.

Experience required:

- Must have Procurement Experience.
- Would need to be comfortable on excel.
- Would need to be comfortable in supplier meetings if ever needed.
- Needs to work in collaboration with other departments.
