We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join the Procurement Team at Fresh-Pak Chilled Foods at our Barnsley facility.

Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the role is expected to provide support to the whole department to support the delivery of a competitive commercial advantage in the marketplace.

The postholder will ideally have some experience of procurement but needs to have commercial acumen, strong organisation skills and be a self-starter. They will also need to be willing to make informed decision (with support) and work independently on deliver of agreed tasks.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Manage the administration requirement of a procurement department i.e. price management, price query resolution, contract management etc
- Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the EPR system used to support all procurement activity.
- Manage an effective Supplier Performance mechanic
- Deliver a monthly business wide communication to include Supplier performance, key projects, future changes etc.
- Deliver all required financial updates in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure the availability of accurate and relevant information to support the department and wider business in making informed decisions.
- Contribute to the building of Category Strategies and their subsequent delivery
- Actively drive delivery of the agreed business/department objectives
- Deliver on service, commercial and development requirements for assigned (development) categories.
- In support of the role being a development position then there will be a formal development plan to achieve

**Key qualifications/skills/experience required**:

- Degree-level or equivalent (ideally CIPS / MCIPS / Supply Chain Diploma)
- Commercially astute
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong IT skills - proficient at Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Good verbal communication skills - presentations will form part of the development plan

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
