- disciplinary busy team - with around 1,200 patients in treatment at any one time, and service users from across the spectrum of drug and alcohol use. This is not a clinical post but aimed at people with lived experience. This innovative post focuses on the need to bring strong leadership around the participation of people using specialist addictions services and their carers in all aspects of both planning and delivery of addictions services within ELFT. It will promote improved outcomes for service users, improve service user and carer experience through new insights and perspectives

The post holder will work strategically across addictions in order to develop and implement a strategy that supports the broad participation agenda. They will project manage a variety of work streams that underpin the locality participation agenda, ensuring that practice in each locality is co-ordinated and supports and responds to the Trust’s corporate social inclusion strategies.

They will provide strong leadership, advice and practical project work across the locality in the development of a culture that is socially inclusive, valves participation and diversity. Supporting and maintaining effective communication, contributing to the training needs of staff in this aspect of their work. The post holder will need to develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

They will have a key role in delivering, locally, the Trust’s People Participation Strategy and Action Plan, Membership Strategy and Volunteering Strategy.

The post holder will help to develop the relationship between adolescent and adult services and develop peer led pathways to help support people who transition between services

The post holder will support CAMHS people participation leads with work around drug and alcohol use within CAMHS

This is not a clinical post but aimed at people with lived experience.

This innovative post focuses on the need to bring strong leadership around the participation of people using specialist addictions services and their carers in all aspects of both planning and delivery of addictions services within ELFT. It will promote improved outcomes for service users, improve service user and carer experience through new insights and perspectives.
- To support multidisciplinary teams to encourage partnership working with service users and their carers
- To develop a pool of service users/carers in Specialist Addictions - working in partnership with others - to enable effective participation within the statutory sector in meetings and interviews etc.
- To represent service user involvement on working groups and train service users and carers to participate in working groups- To promote QI involvement amongst service users
- To work with service users and staff to ensure a high quality, consistent service is offered across all of the services
- To work alongside carers and carer support groups, to increase participation of carers
- To work alongside the user movement to complement and enhance local initiatives
- To support joint working between the Trust, the voluntary sector and the user/carer movement
- To attend decision making forums, e.g. partnership boards, acute care forums, etc. to raise standards of therapeutic engagement
- To offer training to frontline staff in best practices
- To challenge poor practices and offer viable innovative alternatives
- To promote membership opportunities to service users and carers, and support their involvement in membership activity
