Purchasing Assistant

We are currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join well-established, family-run SME based in Southall. Reporting to the Purchasing manager, you will coordinate the company’ procurement of materials, goods for resale, and general trading requirements by maintaining and improving competitive sources of supply, efficient ordering methods and a robust internal purchase order system.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Support the business in procurement of goods and materials for resale and hire
- Help to improve relationships with suppliers, ensuring they remain competitive and meet the business requirements
- Ensuring a robust ordering system is in place, you will seek to improve the efficiency of our ordering methods.
- Maintain supplier database
- Accurately maintain records on the purchase order system
- Assess goods in, ensuring they are correct and undamaged
- Liaise with internal departments regularly to manage and understand expectations, and upcoming business needs
- Run and produce regular reports of stock levels across the business, ensuring that purchasing activity is aligned.
**Requirements**:
- Proven Purchasing experience, ideally within the Tool/Hire Industry
- Customer focussed mindset
- Specific experience of record keeping and working in other functions
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Organised and methodical approach to keeping system and processes up to date
- Attributes: ability to analyze, perception of opportunities to save money, skill in negotiation.
- Excellent communicational skills, both verbal and written.
- You are mature, upbeat and have a genuine interest in people
- You are self-controlled and a systematic and logical thinker, an eye for detail and will complete any given project.
**Hours**: Monday to Friday 7am - 5pm (Office based position, but can offer flexibility on hours)
**Benefits**:
