**About the Roles**

Clinical tutors play a crucial role in supporting the development of clinical psychology and CAP trainees across their training through planning and monitoring clinical placements, providing advice and support to trainees and supervisors.

The roles involve building relationships with trainees and supervisors across the full range of clinical services. For the DClin this is within a specified part of our placement area which covers South Devon, Plymouth, & Cornwall. For CAPs this is further afield, but with a focus on the Southwest.

Contribution to other aspects of programme delivery will also include teaching, assessment, and research supervision. There may also be opportunities to contribute to teaching and research within the broader school.

A significant proportion of both roles can be undertaken through home working. However, there is a requirement to undertake in-person placements visits within a defined placement area (DClin only) and to attend some in-person meetings and events.

**More About the DClin**

The Plymouth Doctoral Clinical Psychology programme has been providing high-quality clinical psychology training in the South West for the past 40 years and was the first programme to adopt a doctoral training model. The programme is committed to values-based practice; working with compassion, courage, and creativity, in partnership with service users and communities to promote social inclusion, diversity, equality and health for all. The programme has longstanding strengths in systemic approaches and is currently working towards BABCP accreditation in CBT, we also have a flourishing programme of community psychology placements.

**More about CAPs**

The CAP Programme is a BPS accredited, Apprenticeship Degree delivered in line with the Institute for Apprenticeships guidance. We privilege equality, diversity and inclusion, cocreation, championing applied psychology and we focus on community, critical, systemic, relational and trauma-informed approaches. We have grown to be a successful and thriving programme with training specialist in adult community, acute and urgent care, Learning Disability and Child and Young People’s services.

**About the context**

Both programmes benefit from being part of the School of Psychology within a large Faculty of Health which also provides medical, dental, general, and mental health nursing, social work, and seven different allied health professions training. The University recently created a centre to facilitate interprofessional learning across the Faculty.

Not only are these great jobs, in a great organization, but it is also in a beautiful location, with excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as cycling, climbing, hiking and kayaking as well as sailing, surfing diving and other marine activities.

For applicants considering relocating to the South West from elsewhere and wishing to combine a training role in the University with a clinical post, there are current vacancies in several specialities across the region. Please do search on NHS jobs and if there is not a post currently advertised, we would be happy to put you in touch with relevant colleagues locally in Plymouth, Cornwall and/or Devon, to identify potential roles that may be suitable.

Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training, and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.

Interviews are expected to take place on Wednesday 9 October and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.
