Bank Therapy Support Worker

We are currently recruiting Therapy Support Workers who are looking for the ability to work flexibly or to work some additional hours, to join our Therapy Support Worker bank where you will be working within a Trust that is rated outstanding for its care and delivers the best patient experience in the N HS (according to the Adult Inpatient Survey)?
Joining our therapy support worker bank will enable you to deliver the best therapy care to our patients, whilst offering you the flexibility to choose when you work within our supportive therapy (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) teams.
Our therapy support workers assist the therapy teams with both clinical and non-clinical activities.
The role involves supervising patients during their therapy programmes, in both in-patient and out-patient settings. This can include facilitating exercise and health promotion groups and work in the Hydrotherapy pool.
The role also involves undertaking clerical duties such as appointment bookings, telephone calls and updating IT health records.

Under supervision of registered therapists be able to assist patients in following treatment programmes prescribed by therapists within the hydrotherapy pool, gym, therapy department and inpatient ward setting responding effectively to any changes that occur in how the patient is.
To facilitate and co-facilitate exercise groups and classes in a safe environment.
To be actively involved in pain management of patients, monitoring changes during treatment and liaising with therapists working in the team as required.
To provide patient care, which may require the use of physical effort to manoeuvre and aid in moving patients. The use of manual handling equipment and training is essential, to reduce physical strain and maintain safety of the patient. Participate mandatory manual handling training.
To have an awareness of the patients’ health status and care needs. To be able to identify specific requirements during therapy treatment and act accordingly.
Provide a safe and clean environment for patients by having and demonstrating a working knowledge of all Health and Safety issues and adhere to Trust infection control and prevention policies.
To observe and monitor the patient’s performance during treatment and to report and liaise with therapy staff or relevant Multi-disciplinary team members promptly, accurately and appropriately.
To advise and instruct patients and their carers in the safe use of specialist equipment to improve the mobility and functional independence of the patient.
To provide instruction to patients in the use of particular techniques and precautions with regards to movement, exercise and how they function. To move, handle or position patients safely within the limits of their condition
To provide and instruct in the safe usage of various rehabilitation and exercise equipment within the gym and hydrotherapy settings.
To be actively involved in mobilising patients on the ward and outpatient settings, providing and preparing the appropriate equipment, to enable them to practice daily activities safely. Activities may include washing and dressing, hygiene and toileting, transferring from bed, chair, toilet and car.
To support patients on the safe negotiation of stairs/steps with or without mobility aids.
To participate in the treatment of patients who have multiple co-morbidities.
To be responsible for performing prescribed tests/physical treatments and to be responsible for the safe and competent use of all hydrotherapy equipment, gym equipment and patient aids/appliances
To demonstrate a level of competency required to conclude a patient’s care from in patient therapy services.
To be responsible for the safe and competent use/maintenance of all equipment used, i.e gym equipment and patient equipment/appliances.
