**The Legal Aid Agency**

We are an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). We provide civil and criminal legal aid and advice in England and Wales to help people deal with their legal problems.

**Case Management**

The Case Management department is the delivery function of the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) and our staff ensure that each year 600,000 new clients are able to access the justice they require, and that providers are fairly paid for the delivery of the legal aid. As part of the work we do, we must ensure that we fund appropriate cases whilst protecting public money.

**Job Summary**

As a member of our Case Management Team, Caseworkers at this level will need to understand the regulations and guidelines so they can:
- Process claims for costs or
- Undertake activities related to the collection of payments.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Build & maintain an understanding of current guidance and regulations and use this to make accurate decisions on casework.
- Provide accurate and timely responses to correspondence and telephone calls received from internal and external customers.
- Provide a Welsh Language Service, to include handling telephone calls, correspondence and undertaking translation of documents.
- Working to required productivity and quality targets in a variety of work streams.
- Engaging in Quality Control and consistency exercises. Ensuring improvements are made where needed.
- Ensure all data is processed accurately, securely and in accordance with MoJ information assurance guidelines.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance and mentoring as required to colleagues.

**Essential Knowledge, Experience and skills**
- Fluent Welsh speaker
- Effective analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- IT Literate - a good knowledge of Microsoft office and digital technology
