Leeds is a large and diverse city and a cultural hub for Yorkshire. EPs work in teams with a community focus to support children and young people. The Educational Psychology Team plays an important role across one of the largest unitary authorities in the country, with all the opportunities that brings.

The EP team is central to the Early Help vision in Leeds which is to develop an early intervention approach with all education heath and care partners to a holistic understanding of children’s needs. The team is extremely well-regarded within the authority and intrinsically involved in Children and Families strategic development.

We are looking for a Senior Practitioner Educational Psychologist who will have part of their work allocated directly to project work within an area of specialism, alongside having an allocation of schools as a main grade EP. Currently, we have a vacancy in the area of Neurodiversity, and so are particularly looking for psychologists with interest and experience in this area. We have an exciting new pilot projects looking at how schools understand and support the needs of their Neurodiverse pupils. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone to take a central role in leading a project, and work with partners in health and targeted services.

**Job purpose**

**Responsibilities**
- Take operational lead on an area of responsibility as identified from the Team Plan, ensuring agreed outcomes are met.
- Lead, coordinate and work alongside ECM Team to plan, develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate training; support packages (e.g. information booklets for pupils, parents and staff) and research and evaluation for centralised and/or area and/or cluster.
- Collate and evaluate data related to the above activities in order to demonstrate clear outcomes and impact on service delivery.
- Proactively seek opportunities to contact agencies and develop partnerships /multi-professional links and maintain strategic links (alongside SEP) related to the area of responsibility.
- Ensure production of up-to-date research and case studies / examples of good practice are readily available for service.
- Provide advice, support and guidance to service members as requested in relation to casework, training and systems work in relation to their area of responsibility.
- Regular reporting of progress to SLT.
- Implement policies, plans and guidelines of Children and Families Services and Learning Inclusion, ensuring high quality psychological service delivery, in alignment with Service Arrangements;
- Offer direct consultation and active psychological support for families and staff working with children/young people with SEN/LD in the schools and settings.
- Advocate for vulnerable children/young people and ensure their welfare is paramount.
- Provide effective advice, psychological assessment and evidence-based intervention in order to raise achievement, improve outcomes and promote inclusion of children and young people with SEN/LD (within the framework of the SEN Code of Practice, Children and Families Act (2014), Leeds Children and Young Peoples Plan
- Provide recommendations on how contexts can be changed to ensure vulnerable children/ young people and those with SEN/LD, achieve their optimum potential and are included as fully as possible.
- Monitor and review progress of children/young people who may have SEN/LDD and provide written advice as appropriate.
- Provide quality psychological advice for statutory assessments in a timely and efficient manner (in accordance with Learning Inclusion operational standards).
- Contribute to the annual review and reassessment procedures for children/ young people with an EHC, including transition planning.
- Provide consultation and psychological advice to support Education Leeds funding systems where appropriate.
- Represent the Local Authority in SEN Tribunals as a
