Here at UPP we have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to work as part of our team in providing the following services: waste management service, planned and responsive maintenance.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £24,929 per annum. The role is based at Cheney Student Village, immediately adjacent to the Oxford Brookes University Headingto Campus.

Role responsibilities as a Maintenance Assistant include:

- Waste management - carry refuse from site external bins to the collection external bins and help improve recycling rates
- Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and provide front line response
- Ensure that the environment is maintained in accordance with the SLA, including keeping the site clean and clear throughout the year
- Assist with the moving of white goods, mattresses, and furniture in a safe manner
- Assist with statutory testing including fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and fire detector checks, water temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and emergency lighting checks
- Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residence ensuring all information is passed to the relevant Manager(s)

We are looking for you to have worked in a similar role and environment and have great communication and organisation skills, along with the passion to do a great job.

You will have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to always work in a safe manner.

You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when the needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends. You will also be prepared to participate in the on-call rota. For this duty an on-call allowance is available in addition to payment for hours worked.
