The Bracton Centre 6 ward medium secure unit and Memorial site has 2 low secure units. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Band 6 Trust Sports and Fitness Lead to deliver a sport & exercise therapy, under the Occupational Therapy department. This entails planning and implementing an evidence-based exercise prescription programme, tailored to the clinical conditions of the service user/s needs. As well as being a member of the wider Occupational Therapy team, supporting the Seven Day Therapies Programme.

The Sport & Exercise Therapy instructor will work with both individuals and groups contributing directly to the Sport & Exercise Therapy programme and the wider Occupational Therapy Seven Day Therapies Programme on average two in four weekends on a rota basis. The post holder will also offer a range of sporting activities as well as support access to community sport provisions to promote social inclusion.
- To manage own clinical caseload
- To work autonomously under the supervision of Trust Sport & Fitness Lead
- To co-lead lead on the development of service user projects e.g. Uplift programme
- Communicate with service users/carers, MDT and wider Occupational Therapy team.
- Provide feedback on caseload and therapeutic activities at monthly supervision.
- Have an awareness of local sport, exercise and physical activity providers that will promote social inclusion and skills development for service users.
- To undertake additional delegated responsibilities as directed by Occupational Therapy lead.

- To work effectively as a member of OT team and the Sport & Fitness team in providing a programme of ward, department or community based therapeutic activities
- Under supervision of Trust Sport & Fitness Lead /co-facilitate planned group work and individual activities
- Contribute to formal OT assessments of service users under the guidance of a registered OT and provide feedback on service users progress.
- To engage in the ongoing assessment and treatment of service users and adjust own clinical interventions based on the fluctuating needs of the service users
- To assist in the implementation, evaluation, and modification of Sport & Exercise programme.
- Ensure all data is completed and entered on RiO
- Maintaining good communication with the multi-professional team (MDT) to ensure integrated team working and improve the operational delivery of services.
- To undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service
- To work with both individuals and groups and contribute directly to the Seven Day Therapies Programme on average two in four weekends on a rota basis.
