Family Support Worker
We are looking for a new member of the team to cover our expanding service and join the Somerset based team regularly for weekend assignments, although more hours are often available during the week if desirable.
Experience of social care, health care or similar helps to show us you have the right values, but the right person is more important than a long CV We provide training, supervision and ongoing support to best support our families.
This role is ad-hoc working opportunities, flexible and rewarding It's a plus that the team are great
We provide various support services for children with separated parents, case management and other specialist services. This is delivered in lots of different ways and the role is based across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, although for this role you will need access to a vehicle and be able to travel you will largely be based in the Taunton area. Travel is paid, as is milage
The main part of this particular role is to help children and the parent they don't live with spend time together in a safe, welcoming and friendly way supported by our team. We pride ourself on being professional, maintaining boundaries, being warm and friendly but robust enough when needed. Some of the families we work with face challenges in their lives, but we believe that shouldn't stop them maintaining some level of relationship with their child if we can help manage that process. We offer contact services in our family space and in the community across the South West and successful applicants will need to fit in with what our service promises to deliver whilst also being a part of the journey to push us forward.
We are seeing such a huge increase in demand for our services and as such need to add a new person to cover the Taunton and wider Somerset area quickly
To be considered for this role:
You'll need to be reliable, flexible, professional and passionate This is an ideal supplementary income rather than a new full time role with regular hours.
We provide great pay and a fantastic team, but you've got to be available when our families need you which is mainly after school and on the weekends. You'll need some training, which we can support you with. You'll need an enhanced DBS which we can support you with. They are currently taking less than 2-3 weeks so it shouldn't delay things too much
You'll need to drive and be willing to travel around the Somerset area. Milage is paid, and so is your time so don't fret about the fuel bill We don't ask you to transport children or parents but you'll be asked to visit families all around and public transport isn't suitable unfortunately.
You'll need to know basic IT skills, be competent taking notes and be able to write quality observations. Training is provided but if you don't know the difference between an iPad and a kettle you might not be the right fit for us
This role is to cover the Somerset area and is mainly lone working and managing your own families time together with the support of our service manager and wider team. You’ll be jumping in the car to go see families, so you need a reliable vehicle and good timekeeping.
We don't want people whose heart isn't in it. This is peoples families, and what could be more important than that Those values are what set's us apart and are the reasons we are rapidly expanding and enjoying lots of new partnerships.
You'll be welcomed in, provided with training and support and feel the rewards from the families you support. Plus your bank balance at the end of the month should give you the final boost if you need it
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: From £15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 14 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Every weekend
- Weekend availability
- Weekends only
Application question(s):
- Do you have any social care, health or other relevant experience?
- Are you available for the times and days detailed in the job description?
- Is your motivation the money or the work? Be honest - don't tell us fibs
Work Location: In person
