Learning Technology Advisor

**Job Purpose**
To support the development of online courses and programmes across the College of MVLS and joint courses with the Adam Smith Business School, working closely with academics to support their use of learning technologies and update and edit course materials. Providing advice and upskilling support from a digital perspective.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
Design and test online course content that is interactive, engaging and provides a compelling learner experience.
Provide effective advice on the deployment of key platforms and tools, such as Moodle and Mahara
Create engaging learning activities and compelling content, using instructional graphics, web content and media as appropriate.
Based on user needs, produce guidance, and participate in demonstrations and training provided to academic staff on the use of the digital technologies needed in teaching, learning and assessment.
Contribute to the design and implement processes to streamline online activity to enable MVLS to develop a consistent and scalable approach to online learning.
Review and adapt course content post-delivery, to ensure consistency and alignment with our learning design approach and templates.
Conduct instructional evaluation and analysis on learners and contexts.
Keep up to date with developments in learning technologies in Higher Education and beyond in order to improve and enhance learning technologies support provision.
**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
**Knowledge/Qualifications**
**Essential**
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s).
**Or**: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge of the functionalities of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE), including those related to course creation and design.
A3 Understanding of pedagogical theories relating to the use of technology-enhanced learning.
**Desirable**
B1 Knowledge of e-learning rapid authoring tools such as Camtasia, Captivate or Articulate.
B2 Knowledge of designing, building and maintaining courses at scale in recent versions of Moodle.
B3 A good understanding of capturing and editing multimedia, such as video and audio.

C10 IT skills, including the use of VLEs to design e-learning provision.
C12 Ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously and drive these through to completion, including requirements gathering and task management.
C13 Ability to capture and share best practice.
**Experience**

E1 Experience in similar role with transferable skills.
E2 Experience of developing creative materials to support and enhance the use of tools designed to enhance learning.
E3 Experience of providing advice and information relating to technology-enabled learning to a wide range of audiences with different levels of technological knowledge.
E4 Experience of supporting staff in the use of multiple platforms that support learning and teaching
**Desirable**
F1 Evidenced experience of project management and design at the level of programme, course and activity.
F2 Experience using web conferencing software.
F3 Experience in creating Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
F4 Awareness of mobile and responsive design (e.g. HTML5 and Bootstrap).
**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 6, £32,332 - £36,024 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
