**Working Pattern**: 08.30-17.00 Monday to Thursday, 08.30- 15.45 Friday

What we need is someone to help us with the day to day administration of accounts payable activities in a timely and efficient manner. This is a newly created role and a great opportunity for someone looking to kick start their career by embarking on a finance apprenticeship or study supported and funded by Siddall & Hilton. Alongside working at SHP, you will be expected to enrol to AAT Level 3 (or equivalent accounting qualification) and work towards getting qualified.

You will be initially responsible for processing supplier invoices, verifying expenses documentation processing payments, and resolving supplier queries. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in import process handling, other accounting areas and projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Accounts Payable**:

- Receipting goods in the system and matching delivery notes to supplier invoices
- Processing and coding purchase invoices
- Communicating with relevant suppliers to process invoicing and payment queries
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Attaching the correct documentation in the ERP system
- Following up un-invoiced purchase orders and invoices with missing delivery notes
- Ensuring that all accounts payable activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures
- Processing employee expenses and ensuring expense claims have relevant VAT documentation
- Preparing and processing weekly and monthly supplier payment runs
- Identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions

**Import Documentation**:

- Moving outsourced processes in house
- Evaluation and choice of forwarding software, testing, training and putting control procedures in place
- Customs declaration for imports
- Preparing various freight documentation and liaising with freight partners
- Classifying goods according to tariff system
- Working closely with the supply chain department to ensure that deliveries are made on time

**Other Accounting Areas**:

- Reconciling control accounts
- Assisting the Financial Controller with month-end tasks
- Completing assigned cost schedules
- Assisting with audit
- Completing VAT reconciliations
- Submitting VAT Returns to HMRC
- Training in credit control, cash management and invoicing to provide team holiday cover

**General Administration**:

- Assisting with reception duties
- Taking inbound calls
- Monitoring team inbox

**About You**:
**Qualifications and Training**
- AAT Level 2 or equivalent qualification
- Currently studying towards, or willing to study towards further accounting qualifications at Level 3 and beyond

**Experience**
- General administration experience is desirable but not essential

**Personal Characteristics**
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach is essential
- Willingness to learn and develop a career in finance
- Proficient ability with MS Office, in particular MS Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Numerate and literate, ability to generate reports etc
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines
- Professional and approachable at all times, ability to deal with support issues in a timely manner, escalating issues appropriately
- Proven organisational skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks working on own initiative
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team player with a proactive and collaborative approach
