**Job summary**

St Austell Healthcare require a reliable Prescription Clerk to join our busy team.

Whilst the main aspect of the job will be processing repeat prescription requests, the post-holder will work under the supervision of the Clinical Pharmacists to provide high quality prescribing and medicines optimisation services to meet the needs of our practice population of approximately 38,000 patients.

The post holder should have a can-do attitude, treating everyone with dignity and respect in line with practice ethos. They should ideally have prior experience of prescription processing, or experience within a community pharmacy/GP dispensary. They must have good communication and IT skills, be able to work under pressure, and work within a large team.

Working hours are between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday. We can offer up to 37.5 hours per week. Rate of pay is dependant on experience.

**Job responsibilities**

**JOB SUMMARY**:

- To respond to queries in a professional, courteous, efficient and effective way and forward all medicines related questions to the practice pharmacist whenever possible or the relevant GP/Nurse/other healthcare professional.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the prescription clerk may include any or all of the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Pharmacist, dependent on current & evolving practice workload and staffing level.
- Ensure the repeat prescriptions are generated accurately and efficiently, within the time specified by the practice.
- Summarise patients medical information & add it to patients computerised medical records summary according to the note summarising protocol as requested by the pharmacist.
- Support the GPs and other non-medical prescribers to maximise the use of EPS and repeat dispensing.
- To contribute to achievement of QoF and PCN IIF markers.
- To run audits as required by the practice.
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice Pharmacist.

**Clinical Governance**
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of sound clinical governance and risk management.
- Support the development/implementation on any new ways of working/policies that need to be introduced across the SAH.
- Support SAHC in operating a quality assurance but no blame culture that adheres to best practice around incident reporting and whistle blowing.

**Engagement with Patients, Internal and External Stakeholders**
- Initiate, develop and maintain excellent third party relationships e.g. with CCGs, NHSE Area Teams, sub-contractor providers, patient groups, local community health teams and other stakeholders to grow, maintain and support service and performance delivery.
- To ensure patient surveys are undertaken, analysed and action plans are developed and acted upon
