Teachers and the education sector in general have been instrumental in helping our children to navigate the past two years of uncertainty, which is why we're extremely proud to be exclusively partnering with top Peterborough-based comprehensive school, TheKing's (The Cathedral) School in Peterborough, to assist them with their search for a new Chief Financial Officer/Company Secretary.

As a school that's been voted as the best in East Anglia by a recent Parent Power Survey, it's imperative that the leadership team is representative of the high standards upheld across the school as a whole.

The newly appointed CFO will report directly to the Headteacher, advising and reporting on all operational matters, as well as working closely with the Governors' Finance Committee regarding school finances. Additionally, the position will line manage theAssistant Financial Controller who heads up a team of 3 in the wider finance department, and there will also be close working ties with the HR Administrator and Premises Manager for other areas of overseeing.

Key areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to:

- **Finance**: Budget creation and monitoring, cashflow forecasting, payroll, banking (to include managing the corporate account), maintaining the assets register, statutory and annual returns, liaising with auditors, overseeing transactionalprocesses, and funding and income generation
- **School**: Working closely with Governors to facilitate educated decision-making processes, overseeing record keeping relating to both the School Census and School Workforce Census, contributing financial and other knowledge to projects regardingthe school curriculum, and managing all financial aspects of the school's catering function and charity status, including the Gift Aid Scheme
- **Human Resources**: Monitoring and management of holiday, sickness and performance management processes, and conduct regular job specification reviews
- **Other**: Managing the administration and tendering of contracts, leading business continuity processes and risk assessments

Due to the highly regulated environment in which this position sits, it's essential that the postholder is a qualified accountant with previous experience working in either an education or other public sector organisation where they have been expected towork to budgets as opposed to profit or revenue targets. We're also keen to speak with financial professionals whose leadership and communication skills are as prominent as their technical accounting abilities as this will be essential to the success of theincoming CFO.
