An exciting opportunity has arisen to join mental health services in Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) as a specialist practitioner in Powys Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The CAMHS service covers both Primary Mental Health and Specialist CAMHS functions through one service, with dedicated workers for each.

If you are passionate about developing a service that will address the needs of children and young people you will be ideal for this post. This is a part time post covering 15 hours a week.

The successful applicant will become an active and integrated member of a specialised psychology service for young children and their families in Powys. The post will require working with a wider professional community in delivering evidenced based intervention in regard to parenting and children’s social competence. These interventions will be based on the Incredible Years suite of programmes and other evidenced based approaches.

Work will focus on early intervention with young children with neurodevelopmental disorder or those at risk of developing conduct disorder. The successful applicant will be expected to develop appropriate accreditations in programme delivery and to work towards accreditation as a peer coach in order to offer support to others.

The post will be based in either Newtown or Brecon but will involve work across the county

Applicants should have experience of working across a range of client groups that must include children and Families. They should have experience of direct delivery of evidence based group parenting interventions. Experience of working with children with conduct and neurodevelopmental disorders will be required.
