Westminster, United Kingdom City of Westminster Council Full time

**About Us**:
**THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF DAPHNE’S INSIGHT**

Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where passionate and expert professionals go above and beyond for their colleagues every day.

Daphne, our champion for people with learning difficulties, is a real beacon. She doesn’t just advocate for colleagues with these difficulties, she teaches managers how to identify and understand the conditions and support their teams at work. Daphne has an innate ability to see the human behind every situation, helping them capitalise on strengths and overcome challenges to be their very best. With her empathy and expertise, she’s a natural. But then, a lifetime of managing her own dyslexia and dyspraxia brings with it unique insight. Our people - and ultimately residents - benefit every day.

Please view the extraordinary story of Daphne’s Insight **here**.

**The Role**:
As a Project Support Officer within the Community Hubs team, you can make your own powerful contribution by helping us deliver a range of centres and activities that are perfectly aligned with the health and wellbeing needs of our local people. We want to reduce health inequalities and improve the life outcomes of everyone living within Westminster, and this role will provide you with the exciting opportunity to contribute to the most ambitious projects.

Our teams are determined to work collaboratively with residents and partners to ensure that facilities and activities have been co-developed, so they accurately reflect the needs of our local communities. As such, you will enable the team to work as efficiently and effectively as possible by providing them with the highest standards of logístical, organisational and administrative support. This will include conducting research, collecting information and creating recommendations based on what you have discovered, so you will have the chance to get directly involved in a range of initiatives. From arranging meetings and taking comprehensive notes on behalf of senior colleagues through to producing documentation and presentations for Cabinet member briefings, this is a great opportunity to learn quickly while gaining great visibility within the organisation

Building strong relationships with both local communities and our partners and acting as an ambassador for the council, you will have plenty of autonomy in your day-to-day activities, though we will provide you with plenty of support along the way. Join us, and we are confident that you will experience true career satisfaction as you will find that our team are passionate about the work that they're doing - so you can be sure of an inspirational working environment

Please refer to the **Job Description** for more information.

**About You**:
To be equal to this career-enhancing role, you will bring a proactive and collaborative approach to every task. With exceptional organisation and administrative skills, you will have a sharp eye for detail, and you will be keen to build strong working relationships with both members of our local community and our strategic partners. You will therefore have great verbal and written communication skills, and you will know how to influence and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders.

From a practical point of view, you will have a good understanding of local government processes, and you will come from a role in which you have handled diary management, taken minutes and organised a variety of meetings. You will also be comfortable analysing qualitative and quantitative data, and you will be highly proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint (or equivalent). With the ability to manage administrative tasks such as raising purchase orders and creating correspondence, you will have good customer service skills. It would also be helpful if you can have some flexibility in your working hours.

**What We Offer**:
Westminster is an amazing place. We are home to more than 200,000 residents from all backgrounds, over 50,000 vibrant and vital businesses and three-quarters-of-a-million people work in Westminster. Westminster City Council’s strategy is to work towards a Fairer Westminster. A Fairer Westminster is one in which our communities are at the heart of our decision-making and help to determine the city’s future. By working directly with our communities and other partners, we can build a more inclusive city that celebrates our diverse communities, and where residents, workers and visitors from all backgrounds will feel welcome and safe.

As a forward-thinking Council we appreciate that people work in different ways, therefore our staff benefit from working a range of flexible working patterns as well as Agile working.
