The indirect buyer negotiates, structures and/or administers contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors and suppliers for purchasing goods and supplies, equipment, services, systems, software or technical equipment for internal company use. Negotiates favorable terms and volume discounts that comply with company policies and procedures, legal requirements and/or other specifications.

What You Will Be Doing
- Leverage best value with suppliers across all procurement categories
- Ensure delivery of forecasted cost optimisation targets, working with regional Senior Managers to ensure timely and consistent regional reporting
- Work with business departments to control the end to end procurement cycle including strong negotiation plans, optimised contracts, smooth project initiation, and timely business reviews.
- Own management of categories within Indirect Procurement.
- Embed latest procurement processes and controls to ensure expenditure approval and forecast expenditure reflect group protocols, with clear governance and decision-making.
- Drive ongoing benefits from supplier rationalisation / consolidation to embed this activity into core working behaviours
- Negotiate with suppliers to establish price, delivery, quantity, payment, scope of work, etc..
- Researches alternative sources or methods of supply putting recommendations forward where appropriate.
- Provide administrative oversight during contract performance. Works with internal and external departments/representatives. Initiate corrective action where suppliers are not performing to expectation.
- Review and approves requisitions to validate all documentation complies with internal audit requirements and defined policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Key Challenges
- Owning the relationship with specific suppliers and leading the relationship and the interface into the Avnet Europe business
- Establishing strong lines of communication, both with suppliers and with all levels of internal hierarchy within Avnet.
- Being adaptable and flexible to the needs of the different businesses, sometimes at very short notice
- Balancing several projects within various different categories at any one time and managing the delivery of each to acceptable timescales
- Obtaining valuable and accurate management information from systems to support procurement decision process
- Understanding that actions may impact the success of the overall department and/or the organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions may result in delays to projects, loss of revenue or allocation of additional resources to remedy.

Skills, Know How and Experience
- General understanding of Indirect Procurement practices, techniques and standards.
- Happy to work independently within the job assignments, but to also collaborate with peers from all levels of the organisation.
- Entry level understanding of Procurement principles, theories and concept, preferably with some buying and negotiating experience
- CIPS part qualified (level 4) or willing to work towards overall MCIPS.
- Good stakeholder communication to lay foundations for excellent working relationships across all levels of the organisation
