**What is Security Engineering?**:
Our experience and position across defence and security, information technology and the construction industries uniquely qualifies us to offer services uncommon to traditional security and technology consultants. Our clients can benefit from bespoke strategies, followed by engineered solutions that holistically consider risk, operational requirements, the business case for technology investment and the wider architectural vision. By engaging in leading research and development, we navigate and influence industry and the regulatory and statutory landscape. We consider a project’s key threats and critical dependencies from the outset, allowing us to design in ‘real world’ mitigation strategies that remain flexible to a changing threat landscape, whilst maintaining a project’s aesthetic and aspirations. We develop strategies that provide the right mitigation without placing obtrusive and unfriendly measures that could detract from the look of a building.

**About the apprenticeship**:
Our management team include qualified professional engineers who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer.

Many engineers who decide to progress through the apprenticeship route find that working during the day on projects whilst attending part time study provides an invaluable experience and enables a work focused programme of learning delivering increased technical skills and behaviours that are invaluable for their career.

Within your team you will be guided by your line manager and colleagues within a strong collaborative ethos that will enable you to develop your engineering understanding, knowledge and skills by working on a broad range of projects. There are also wider groups such as the Young Employees Forum (YEF) for those at an early stage of their career which provides a wider peer network across the many design, advisory and consulting disciplines that is Buro Happold. The YEF not only organises professional development events but has a wider focus on encouraging participation in voluntary activities and social events.

Starting salary on offer is £25,500 for level 6 plus additional benefits. Benefit highlights include 25 days holiday and early finish on the last Friday of the month), cycle-to-work, other competitive benefits.
